We’re harvesting plenty right now. Beans, summer squash by the crate load, tomatoes are dropping off, cucumbers giving like there’s no tomorrow and kale coming out of every orifice! Frantically sowing autumn salads to try and bridge the salad gap (the slugs are doing their best to destroy all the young lettuce 🙄) the winter […]
June has been flat out. What with dealing with the contaminated muck and re sowing / planting like mad dogs, whilst waiting for the sun to come. So it did at last, 30 degrees outside on Saturday, 45+ inside the tunnels!! Cucumbers have finally decided it’s time to grow, some fruit has set in the […]
Our lovely customers picking up and tucking into their veg boxes!
Not far off a kilo. That’s quite a mouthful 😁
So very pleasing. Violetta potatoes have won it for us. They hold the colour when boiled, make the most fantastic looking chip/wedge and taste great to boot! What’s not to love?
Finally, we made it over to Little Morton Farm in Clay Cross and picked up 15 lovely hybrids, some brown, some speckled, some white and some that look like pheasants! They’ve made it through the night and look very happy. The other residents seem to be giving them a warm welcome, an easy transition. So […]
It’s been a week of discovery and disappointment here at the Pingle. Some of our crops have been looking a bit sad over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been blaming the weather like most English folk do, but as the summer has flourished it’s become more apparent to us that something else is wrong. […]
It’s the spring equinox and the first of the peas are ready to go into the ground. We’re trying out a more dwarf variety this year in the tunnel, they should have fruited and be finished before the tomatoes are ready to go out.
February has been kind! Record braking heat levels have seen the tunnels turn up the volume! Check out the winter spinach Hattie is holding 🙂 We’ve been crazy busy planting for the spring and busy again harvesting the bounty. Seems the autumn planting was a very good idea! We may have a new recruit to […]
Today we managed to dig in the second 50ft trench for the raspberries. Quite a mission but we made it! Here’s to a fruitful summer!
